Who is The Geek Goddess?
To a large extent, the work I do defines me as a person. So let me introduce you to what I do for a living:
I like to think that by selling the right ideas, services, and products that fulfil specific needs and wants, I am helping people navigate their complicated lives.
By trade, I am a Jack (or should I say Jane?) of many - writing, translating, and digital marketing. I have more than eight years of experience in the fields of education, training, and marketing communications. I am currently a freelance writer and translator in English and Malay.
If you want a professional freelancer to create marketing materials or articles for you, contact me for my portfolio and rates.
In May 2014, I co-founded a software company called RedBean Software and became its Project Director. We specialise in customised software development and design, and our range of services include software consultancy, mobile applications, desktop software, and web and cloud solutions. Every business needs a technical partner to support their business needs, and we have the right expertise to serve them.
You can follow the chatter about all things software and more by following us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
So what do I do when I'm not immersed in all the above?
Well, I am active in Toastmasters. It is one of the best personal development programmes that anyone around the world can invest in, because it is affordable (in my case it's free because my club sponsors my membership fees and club activites), it is systematic, and it has been around for 90 years.
We have been taught at an early age to invest for a rainy day; be it a savings account, using your yearly bonus to buy gold jewellery, or even buy a property as soon as possible. But the best investment we can make is to invest in improving our skills and knowledge. Let's be realistic: banks can go bankrupt and lose your savings, a thief may rob your gold, and your house can be burned down to the ground by naughty kids playing with matches.
But no one can take away your skills and knowledge.
At home, I love to cook, watch crime and law TV shows (on the idiot box or its cousin, the laptop), and engage in in-house cardio such as cleaning my apartment (which sits next to a busy highway, so by default I have house bunnies as pets). I also love DIY crafts such as beading and sewing.
Outside of the house, I enjoy brisk-walking and food-hunting with friends.
